Expert Post Padder Posts: 1318 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Location: In a chair infront of the computer (OllllllO) | I'm thinking of selling my axles for some bigger ones. I have a set of 44s with 4.88s, spooled rear and lockright front, drum rear disc front, warn hubs and drive flanges, front is set up for spring over rear would be just the tubes no perches but will include a set for you to weld on. The fronts have Alloy USA shafts, rears are stock (they don't make an alloy for it). I also have a spare set of front and rear shafts. They were from an 86 Waggy and i've had them in for about 6 years. They are GREAT!!!! I just want bigger. I run 36s without a problem. Some of you may have seen them in action, they will be worth the money. Now how much. I figure if you got them in a yard they could run about $500 for the pair, $500 for the shafts, $300 for the locker, $100 for the spool, $350-$400 for the gears and install kits not to mention labor. That's about $1700-$2000 for you to build them from scratch. I won't lie and say they are beautiful because they aren't. They do have rock rash!! I was thinking of $1000. Not sure if they are worth it or if it's to low. Let me know. I can privide pics if you want them or better yet come to RcRocks on Saturday and see them in person. Stukboy PS: Forgot to mention they are currently on my YJ. PSS: I know you have a comment Kris, let's hear it. I respect your opinion!

I am assuming you will be keeping the brackets off the rear for whatever axles you get. These are pretty much bolt in and go. For anyone who is consider these this is a great setup. The weak link for running over 35" tires Todd has already addressed, the front shafts usually give up first, with the alloy shafts that he has added they are good up to about 37" tires, maybe bigger if you use your head and not the skinny pedal. Welding the spring purches on the rear is an easy job, the front is the tough part and it is done. I ran this setup in my Jeep for years and always liked it. With the upgrades Todd has done they are even better. Todd, what are you running for steering on the front axle? I thought you had a hi steer setup.

Extreme Veteran Posts: 343 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Location: Lykens, Pa | Sounds like a good price to me. It's too bad that I don't have the money for them. You should just part the whole thing out and build a whole new one. I call first dibs on the stinger. Edited by newbie 92 YJ 4/30/2009 4:33 PM

I wanted the Stinger!!!! 2nd dibs.... but I don't think he has any plans on parting the whole thing out right now. If he does that we won't be able to break it more in the comp.

Extreme Veteran Posts: 343 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Location: Lykens, Pa | aside from the axles and stinger there isn't much left that is worth selling unless someone needs a cracked windshield or a slightly dented hood.

Extreme Veteran Posts: 343 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Location: Lykens, Pa | good point. or even easier add some 3/16 armor on the sides and it will look good as new, probably be cheaper, and easier than swapping the tub.

| Elite Veteran Posts: 764 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Location: Hershey | Newbie and Clutch, you guys dont have to fight over the Stinger, I just may know who made that one and MIGHT be able to talk him into making a few more at a fair price. I think he even got a tube roller and could come closer to matching the radius on the hood than the one Todd has. Serious If you guys really want one we can work something out I love doing fab work. You may want to wait though, until you see the new front bumper I have in my head. One of these days I will get some tubing and start bending (or more like rolling). I have some cooler fab tools available to me than when I made that Stinger. Let me know and we can discuss this. | ||

I'd like to have something similar to that stinger on my CJ at some point. Obviously I'm not in a hurry since I've already been working on it for two year... LOL Did you decide what you want to do with that trans. and shifter yet???

Veteran Posts: 238 ![]() ![]() ![]() Location: Newberrytown | Sign me up for a stinger also. I'll even throw in the spare 35's Kris. Todd once the price gets to $500 I'll take'em. LOL. I agree with Kris though Todd on the axles. I would stand at a thousand firm. The work alone on the front was a good penny!

| Elite Veteran Posts: 764 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Location: Hershey | I have started a new thread about these so as to not hijack this thread any farther. And to try to redeem myself...BUY TODD'S AXLES. They are a great deal and you cant build them that cheaper on your own. Bolt the front in, weld some rear spring purches on and go. This is no more than a weekend job. | ||
